As a follow up to this series on in-sight, we have decided to focus on alcoholic beverage in North America. Through the next 7 posts, we will take you through some of the hottest flavor trends in the alcoholic beverage category. Some you may know, some may be completely new, but either way, its a great way to step back and take a look at what's going on in alcoholic beverage world.
We'll be taking a look at trends in three different forms within alcoholic beverage: fusions, mixology, and experience.
Today we're posting Trends #4 & #5: Mixology - Smoking and Botanicals. Mixology and cocktail culture has seen a major resurgence over the last few years in the United States. From speakeasies in New York City to trendy restaurants and hotels offering top-notch cocktails in Chicago and Los Angeles, mixology is at the top of its game. The mixology takeover in the U.S. has also brought some great new as well as classic ingredients with it, including shrubs and bitters. Sweet, fruity, over the top cocktails are being traded for booze-forward drinks incorporating new elements like smoking and botanicals. Some of these flavors include rosemary, basil, bacon, smoke, elderflower and more.
