We definitely saw an increase in the number of new healthy products as we walked up and down the aisles. Health and wellness has gained a great deal of momentum in the past few years as Millennials, Baby Boomers and even Generation Z have a more health conscious mindset. In fact, this health trend appears to be a driving force behind what retailers displayed during this year’s event with a strong focus on functional beverages. These types of beverages include RTD teas, CSDs, waters, coffee, juices and more. Consumers are interested in seeing beverages with vitamins, minerals, protein, probiotics and other functional ingredients. Weight loss, stress relief and relaxation, revitalization, skin rejuvenation and naturalness are some of the benefits consumers are seeking when drinking these popular functional beverages.
A few of the functional beverages spotted at this year’s Summer Fancy Food Show include iQ Juice, All Beauty and LifeAid. iQ juice is definitely doing something right with it’ s positioning. According to Mintel, there are several functional attributes that are appealing to US juice consumers - 46% would like added health benefits, 30% energy boosting, 24% probiotic, 21% anti-inflammatory, 20% mood boosting and 15% beauty-enhancing. iQ juices are functional and flavorful beverages that support these common health concerns. Not only does it taste good, but it’s loaded with antioxidants that helps to nourish the body and mind. They have a range of products including Memory, Cleanse, Fat Burner, Rise Up, Detox, and Immunity. Each variant contains specific ingredients to help individual concerns. For instance, Detox contains pomegranate, beet and lemon while Rise Up consists of orange, strawberry, white grape, guarana and B12.
