Last year was when confectionery makers finally took the clean label message to heart. They gave artificial ingredients the boot and focused on simple, less processed ingredients. Hershey announced early in 2015 that it would transition to "simple" and "easy-to-understand" ingredients and the company held to that by removing vanillin in its Kisses and chocolate bars before year end.
