Snack time has become a negotiation between children and their parents’ conflicting wants and needs. Between the ages of 6 and 12 years old, kids have two snack time goals: flavor and feeling full. Children want to eat something that’s both delicious and filling—however when it comes to what their parents want for them, they don’t always see eye to eye.

We partnered up with consumer research agency, Smarty Pants, to explore first-hand the many snacking occasions of 6 to 12 year olds. Backed by extensive ethnographic research, our Kids Snacking Initiative identifies the different snack time priorities parents and children have.

The video below covers snacking perspectives by attitude and behavior compared to parents, including:

- Snacking needs and wants: parents versus kids
- Eating salty versus sweet by time of the day
- Top sweet and savory snacks
