Need to know what’s making waves in the food and beverage industry? We have the scoop after attending the 2017 Summer Fancy Food Show in the New York Jacob K. Javits Convention Center June 25-27.
With this year marking the 65th anniversary of the Specialty Food Association, the floor featured the latest innovation from more than 2,600 exhibitors, 180,000 specialty foods and beverages, thousands of new products and the latest trends and news. Symrise attended this riveting event to explore what’s driving future consumer food and beverage trends. From quinoa to functional beverages and oatmeal, exhibitors displayed an array of different products and exciting flavors and flavor combinations. Protein, health and wellness, and kid-friendly are key trends to keep an eye on as Millennials and Generation Z continue to be the primary focus driving innovation.
Ginger, rose and quinoa have taken their show on the road as they venture into unique and different categories. Quinoa is featured in Suzie’s non-dairy beverage as well as Highland Farm’s Quinoa Pops, both delightfully tasteful. Blossom Water’s Lemon Rose and Norr Skyr’s Raspberry and Rosewater organic yogurt showcased rose flavors which were both refreshingly pleasant. There were many more products with seasonal flavors at this year’s show, as seasonality continues to play a big role in new product innovation which was highlighted in the “What’s Hot, What’s New” showcase.
There were also many standout entrepreneurs just starting their journey into the industry. Boonbox and Crown Jewel Beverages were in attendance showcasing their meal solutions and unique sorrel tea. These are just a few of the exciting product and flavor trends shaping the future of food and beverage.
